Fanlisting ::

A fanlisting, is just what its name implies, a listing of fans for a given topic. The concept is the brainchild of one person, Janine. There is only one approved fanlisting per subject and all the approved fanlists make up an immense database at thefanlistings.org, which is manned by volunteers.
This particular fanlisting is for the relationship shared by John Locke and Benjamin Linus on the hit television program, "LOST."

Ben and Locke::

Their relationship began in season two when Ben was captured and brought to the Lostie's bunker, "The Hatch." There, Ben gave his name as, "Henry Gale." Even as a prisoner, "Henry" took a special interest in Locke and the two seemed to share some unspoken bond.
In season three, the parallels between the characters became more defined-- Locke, once paralyzed could walk, but Ben, once mobile, was in a wheelchair. Both purportedly have a deep connection to the island, but while Ben's connection seems on the wane, Locke's grows ever stronger.
Locke eventually runs off joining the Others and looking for answers from Ben. When Ben begins to feel Locke's affinity to the island (and Jacob) is threatening to his leadership position, he shoots Locke and leaves him for dead in a pit.

Why ::

The idea for this fanlisting came about some time during the third season of "LOST," spawned by the many ambiguous comments made by Ben to Locke. "Suddenly I felt pins and needles all over..."

...

I mean. Come on.

Jokes aside, the two share probably the most dynamic relationship on the entire show. Even when all else in an episode tanks, I love watching them talk and interact. I love them, I love joking about them and in my heart of hearts I know the love between a knife-crazed hunting jock and a baby shrimp is just too beautiful to NOT have a fanlisting.

Layout ::

This layout features a screen capture from the season three episode, "The Man from Tallahassee" found here. Textures over the images, were provided by Resurgere.

Name ::

Joking with friends, we decided to come up with the Ben/Locke internet pairing name. That was Block. The rest followed naturally. Obviously, the site would be "block party," fans of the pairing would be "block heads" - so on!
